Elizabeth Banks Wertz

Elizabeth Wertz is a Utah based costume designer and bespoke tailor known for her exceptional work in theatre, film, and commercials. With a Bachelor of Arts in Theatre Arts Studies with a specialization in Costume Design from Brigham Young University, Elizabeth has honed her skills in bringing historical and fantastical worlds to the stage. Elizabeth has interned at prestigious institutions like the Oregon Shakespeare Festival, refining her skills in costume construction in their renowned costume shop. She is a strong believer that her knowledge of costume construction greatly informs and improves her costume design abilities.

After her schooling, and during the pandemic, she turned her focus to film, working on national and international advertisements for companies such as Toyota, Visa, Chevrolet and Comcast, in the role of Assistant Designer. She has also worked on feature films for companies such as Paramount and Hallmark, working as an on set costumer. Not only has Elizabeth contributed her on set skill and attention to detail to film productions, but she has also played integral roles on set as a tailor, ensuring that costumes fit actors impeccably and withstand the rigors of filming.

She has recently been able to turn her focus back to her love of theatre. She is a designer at the Ruth and Nathan Hale Theater, where she just completed the inaugural production in the Lindsay Legacy Theater in their band new building. Elizabeth took some time away from work in 2022-2023 to pursue education as a bespoke tailor, and now tailors suits for private clients. She is continuing her bespoke tailoring education online and hopefully in Ireland and England in the coming years.  Elizabeth loves creating whether it's on stage, on screen or on her sewing machine in her basement studio.
